I find exhibitions to be quite challenging. While I look forward to the opening night, the preparations leading up to it are always exhausting. No matter how organised I am, the process is always hectic, particularly given the two-year gap between my shows, which adds to the drama and anticipation. My friends often joke that I should “paint faster,” but in reality, I find myself slowing down as I get older.

Given the economic climate and the cost of living crisis of 2024, I knew the timing of the Exhibition would be tricky. However, I needn’t have worried; it turned out to be quite a success, with seven out of the eight paintings sold. I am truly grateful to my patrons; their continued support of my work is genuinely humbling, and I appreciate it sincerely. I do not take that support for granted. It is a privilege to earn a living as an artist.

Sally and Anna, the directors of Parnell Gallery, are fantastic, as is the team that makes the Exhibition magic happen. I love the homely feel of the gallery; it’s a wonderful place to show my paintings. We consistently draw a sizable crowd for opening night. It’s not about selling, an opening night is a celebration.

My exhibitions run for two weeks, opening on a Tuesday and closing the following Sunday. I am usually in the gallery on both Saturdays of the show, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, and it’s a great time to catch up with people in a more relaxed setting.

I don’t give “Artist Talks”, I’ve found them to be a bit “hit and miss”. I now prefer to write a short essay about each painting. I create notes during the painting process, which helps establish the framework for these stories.

The next show is scheduled to open at Parnell Gallery in November 2026—dates to be confirmed.
