Growing up with an artist as a mother, art was never something that existed separately from life. I was surrounded by pieces inspired by the English landscape and its wildlife; and I saw that those works inspired connection and above all else, meant something to my family. It was through these early experiences that I began to understand art not as something reserved for galleries, but as something deeply human. That early appreciation for art’s ability to hold memory and meaning finds a natural continuation in Ross’ work. His pieces evoke a refreshing suspension of concern – a welcome departure from the usual proceedings of the day.
