The iconic Volkswagen Karmann Ghia recreated in the 70s the “Sedan” MF-743 VW Vintage Tin Toy Friction toy car. Made in China of tinplate and plastic, this 20 cm toy is a lovely example of toymakers capturing the essence of the model while not getting lost in the details. The 1950s period of design or “mid-century design” has always inspired my interest. I’m constantly drawn back to the clean lines of the architecture and design of the period, so I’ve worked my toy into the composition with hints of mid-century design. The butterfly chairs and minimal design of the house in the background are props to this story. But, of course, every car needs a name so, I’ve called her Karman.

Hi Ross, is Karman still for sale? I have the exact same tin Karmann and used to own a Karmann Ghia so they are very dear to my heart.
